Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the inspration for my second spooky look! Do you guys remember these books? They were my absolute favorite in grade school! I remember reading them in my canopy bed and genuinely scaring myself! I always had my dad come in to tuck me in at night and check all my closets for monsters and ghosts. My favorite scary story of ALL TIME has to be "The Girl With the Green Ribbon Around Her Neck." So in honor of it being the day before halloween, I'm going to tell you my favorite scary story,
A long time ago there was a little girl who had a green ribbon around her neck. One day she went to school and met a boy named Jim. Jim sat behind her in class and noticed the ribbon under her pig tails.
"Why do you wear that ribbon around your neck?" he asked. Someday I'll tell you, she promised.
When they were teenagers, Jim asked the girl on a date. While they were drinking frappes, Jim asked again, "why do you wear that green ribbon around your neck?" She laughed nervously and said, "Well maybe if we ever get married I'll tell you."
Jim fell in love with the girl and they got married. In bed their first night, the only thing his new wife wouldn't take off was the ribbon and he asked, "Okay, we're married now...why do you wear that ribbon on your neck!" She said, "I'll tell you if we ever have kids."
After they had a boy and a girl, Jim asked again,"Please, please, please, WHY DO YOU WEAR THAT RIBBON AROUND YOUR NECK?!?!" She said, if you love me, you'll drop it for now, some day I'll tell you."
So he dropped it. Just accepted the fact that his wife wore a mysterious ribbon around her neck all the time. They got old together, then the woman got very sick, went to the hospital, and the doctor said she was going to die. Her distraught husband sat by her side for days, and finally said, please, tell me now, why do you have that ribbon around your neck? In a croaky voice she said, okay, I'll tell you, take it off now."
He pulled the bow loose and her head fell off.

Here's the first of my spooky Halloween looks this week boos! Poprageous (a day 1 brand for me) sent over this awesome bloody gore dress. I couldn't resist pairing it with my new Lip Service red moto jacket.
I spent last week in Chicago and got to shoot with Yuya again, finally! He's one of the most talented photographers I've met and it was so awesome to reconnected again. I also met a new makeup artist, who was a doll and showed up at the Dana Hotel bright and early two days in a row to get Shooka and I ready. She'll be part of an amazing team we are putting together for next fashion week!
I hope you guys enjoy the first of my spooky looks, be prepared for much, much more!
Love you all so much

Sad Clown, Bad Fall
She goes by the nickname Peyote. Her real name is Iris. Appearance doesn't matter, so I'm not gonna describe it. She lives in Brooklyn, working as a witch. Smoke and mirrors, you know fake magic tricks. Safe to say, she made the rent good. 23 years old and a spot in the hood. She had the condo, the view, and the kitchen sink. She had a drug-free body, didn't even drink. And she had a sister, who wouldn't stop giving her shit for dropping out of art school to be an artist. She knew better, she did it anyway. Life isn't fun without mistakes, and that's safe to say.
So here's Iris, stealing time from the devil, trying to make life in Brooklyn something special.

Fall's here, which means layers and collecting as many black pants, tights and leggings as possible. Until this weekend, I forgot black tights were a thing. I'm excited to get back to styling looks for slightly colder temperatures, it's a good challenge.
I love this pair of black jeans from Hudson's Fall Women's 14' Collection. They've got a very Moto feel to them. I'm usually a 23, but I ordered them in a 24 (thinking they might fit snug) but I actually like that they're a little big bigger. They give my look a more casual/rocker vibe. The wax coated denim is awesome with any moto jacket and it's inspired me to dress in all black/white/red for fall.
I'm off to the airport to catch a flight back to NYC after a long week in Chicago. Happy Monday babies! I've got SOOO many Halloween treats coming to the blog this week.

quelqu'un m'a dit
I'm told that our lives aren't worth much. They pass like an instant, like wilting roses. Time is slipping and I'm filled with it's memories. I see the new day come at me like rain. It arrives in all it's natural glory, whether you insist on it or not. Some days, I just don't think I'm ready. I close my eyes back into the pillow, eyelashes blinking in the small amount of darkness left in the room. I want to stay here all day. Safe in my little world of garments and novels. Salinger and Hemingway will be my guide to life. Why believe there is anything outside of their created worlds?
Some days I forever imagine myself as Franny, Salinger's slipping dreamer, beaten down by life and tired of everyone trying so hard. For me, it was always all about being a character anyway. I am Brigitte Bardot meets Edie Sedgwick meets Sailor Moon. But perhaps, those are just girls who wanted to be characters too.
Si, Quelqu'un m'a dit?

Brooklyn Baby
It's a play palace in the center of Brooklyn. Heaven is on earth in your own little bungalow. Infatuated by the more intrinsic of details, playing dress up and hideaway at the same time.
A treehouse where you can wear your big false eyelashes and sing Fiona Apple in little leopard frocs. The world is a white bed and a camera and a kiss. Freaky Coney Island dreams and lucid nightmares. A carnival that you can dress up for at night. All you friends are freaks. Polaroids and hand-rolled cigarettes. I like watching you live.

Prayer in C
"You never said a word. You didn't send me no letter. Don't think I could forgive you."
I dare you to be alone. I dare you to spend an hour getting to know yourself. I dare you to get to a level where people you don't like, don't even bother you anymore.
Be around people that dream like you. Your dream will push you when you can't push yourself. What you are to be, you are becoming. We have to see ourselves there. If you quit now, no day will ever be your day. You cannot do anything without faith.
Fear does not hold me anymore.
You have to learn to let the past go, so you can grow.

Even though I live in New York City, my bedroom is still one of my favorite places to be. My mornings are usually spent with a My Little Pony mug full of coffee or tea. I love working from my desk, writing in my inspiration notebook, and getting my blog post up for the day. I love sitting cross-legged in my big chair catching up on emails in stockings and some sort of big soft tee or sweater.
I also really enjoy afternoons at home, playing dress up, working on styling, or just reading a book. I'm usually reading 2-5 books at any given time. One is usually a classic work of fiction, one is about veganism/health/raw diets, and the other is usually about spirituality, such as the Tao, the Bible or the work of some Christian philosopher.
Especially living in a big place like New York City, where things are constantly happening, it's really important to take down time at home for yourself.
One of my favorite Christian philosophers, Blaise Pascal, once said that "All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone." I believe it's so important to take time to be alone with our thoughts, getting to know ourselves, and simply just being. There is so much value that comes from just sitting with yourself alone. I feel like I've really been able to discover who I am, who I want to be, and where I intend to go, purely by spending time alone.
Anyways, the point of this blog post is to show you my new favorite cozy at home clothing line, Wear Luna. It just happens to be owned by a friend that I very much look up to, Audrey Kitching. I think the pieces are so soft and perfect for wearing to yoga, shopping, coffee runs, or just simply sitting at home relaxing!
I hope you all have an awesome weekend, much love.

"My face above the water. My feet can't touch the ground. And it feels like I can see the sands on the horizon, every time you are not around.
I'm slowly drifting away. Wave after wave. And it feels like I'm drowning, pulling against the stream.
I wish I could make it easy, easy to love me. But still I reach, to find a way. I'm stuck here in between. I'm looking for the right words to say.
And it feels like I'm drowning."

Ballet Bae / Dark + Light
She was two in one. A light spirit, and a girl very much filled with darkness. Left strung between two paradises, eden and the serpent, she danced in the shadows. If it's what we think and what we do that make us who we are, then she was two.
With all the love and light that surrounded her, how could she not dress in color? And with all the lovers that left with no letter, how could she not dress in black? Perhaps there was not as much space between the two as she believed. She felt the absence of love lost, but also the replete of the artists surrounding her. Her friends are getting high under the moonlight and her lover's waiting home in her white cloud of a bed. She often left her home, but she found home everywhere.
New York was uncertain. It terrified her, but she loved it. I don't think she'd take her dark-self or her light-self anywhere else. Where else could the two live side by side simultaneously? Taking herself for a midnight walk on the Brooklyn Bridge, running down to the waterfront in Williamsburg, charging her third-eye chakra in Soho. New York will feed every part of you.
The light stuck around like mango in her teeth. The secrets stayed inside like prayers on repeat. She woke to the Manhattan skyline each day, so bright in it's truth revealing glare. Then the evening came, the sun fell into a pink horizon, and the black filled the night sky where the demons stayed alive. The creative hour. She was two in one.

ANGEL
Here's the last look I shot all Terry Richardson style with Brad. I adore this Angel Wildfox top that came as a surprise to me in the mail from my good friend, Justin Markin. We used to both live in Chicago together, where he owned the best art gallery in Wicker Park. But now, you can find him chilling at his beautiful house in Los Angeles and shooting models on film. If you're looking to shoot with an amazing photographer in LA, I highly recommend hitting him up on facebook! He's awesome at styling, I have a shoot coming to the blog from fashion week that we shot at the Ace Hotel. He styled myself and my best friend in some really cool vintage pieces! He thrifts almost full time as well, and I'm excited to see what he does with everything, his collection of vintage is getting quite amazing!
It's so wonderful to grow up around so many beautifully creative and talented friends. I feel so blessed to be solely surrounded by artists on a daily basis.
Much love

First Day of My Life
This is the first day of my life. Swear I was born right in the doorway. I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed, they're spreading blankets on the beach.
Yours is the first face that I saw. I think I was blind before I met you. Now I don't know where I am, I don't know where I've been, but I know where I want to go.
And so I thought I'd let you know. That these things take forever. I especially am slow. But I realize that I need you, and I wondered if I could come home.
Remember the time you drove all night, just to meet me in the morning. I thought it was strange, you said everything changed. You felt as if you'd just woke up. And you said, "This is the first day of my life. I'm glad I didn't die before I met you. But now I don't care I could go anywhere with you and I'd probably be happy."
With these things there's no telling, we just have to wait and see. But I'd rather be working for a paycheck, then waiting to win the lottery.
